Veteran David Garcia of Bakersfield is fed up with illegal aliens destroying his community and decided to do something about it. He has posted a sign in his yard that says "Wetback Go Back". Before you call him a racist though you have to realize that Garcia is Hispanic.

Wetback is a powerful record of the journey of five Nicaraguans, with no documents and little money as they make their way north. They face tremendous obstacles, from corrupt Mexican border police and vicious gangs to dangerously overcrowded freight trains and fast-moving rivers. Those who make it into the US face armed white supremacist vigilante groups who patrol the border. Pérez Torres accompanied these migrants on every step of their journey, documenting their struggle in alarmingly revealing and provocatively honest detail. Wetback is an exemplary and committed documentary that offers incisive insights into the politics of poverty, the forces of repression and the will to survive.
